<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Crypto Market Rebounds</h2>



Bitcoin rose above $96,000 for the first time in nearly two months ,with trading volume surging 45% over the last 24 hours. The leading cryptocurrency is now up 9.29% in 2026.&nbsp;



Ethereum also rallied to a 2-month high of $3,350, while XRP and Dogecoin also recorded sharp spikes.



The rally comes after the Senate Banking Committee <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/26/01/49886882/senates-draft-bill-gives-xrp-sol-doge-bitcoin-like-status-heres-why-it-matters">released a draft bill for the key cryptocurrency market structure bill</a>, defining altcoins as similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum. The Committee marks up the bill Thursday

Nearly $680 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, <a href="https://www.coinglass.com/LongShortRatio">according </a>to Coinglass, with $592 million in bearish shorts wiped out.



Bitcoin's open interest surged 6.65% in the last 24 hours, with more than 50% of derivatives traders placing long bets on the apex cryptocurrency.



The market sentiment <a href="https://alternative.me/crypto/fear-and-greed-index/">shifted </a>from "Fear" to "Neutral," according to the Crypto Fear &amp; Greed Index.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $3.25 trillion, jumping 4.67% over the last 24 hours.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Stocks Move The Other Way</h2>



Stocks pulled back from record highs on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average retreated 398.21 points, or 0.8%, to end at 49,191.99. The S&amp;P 500 dipped 0.19% to settle at 6,963.74, while the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite lost 0.1% to finish at 23,709.8



December's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/26/01/49872357/us-cpi-inflation-data-december">Consumer Price Index rose 2.7% year over year,</a> in line with analyst estimates. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.3%, also in line with forecasts.



Oil prices lifted, with the U.S. West Texas Intermediate trading surging beyond $61 a barrel as geopolitical tensions rose after President Donald Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115888317758045915">told </a>Iranian protesters that "help is on its way."

Shares of defense companies, including Lockheed Martin Corp. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/LMT" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/LMT">LMT</a></a>)  and Kratos Defense &amp; Security Solutions, Inc. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/KTOS" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/KTOS">KTOS</a></a>), closed down 4.34% and 13.78%, respectively, after President Donald Trump said he wants to increase the 2027 military budget from $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bull Market About To Start?</h2>



Michaël van de Poppe, a widely followed cryptocurrency analyst and trader, noted Bitcoin's breakout above the crucial 21-day moving average and test of the level as support.



"It&#8217;s quite clear that this is going to run to $100,000 in the coming week and that dips are for buying," the analyst projected. "The bull market hasn&#8217;t died, it&#8217;s about to start."

Similarly, popular analyst Ali Martinez predicted that $105,921 "comes into play" if the apex cryptocurrency crosses $94,555.



As of this writing, Bitcoin has cleared this threshold and remains to be seen whether it hits Martinez's target.

Bitcoin Tops $96,000; Ethereum, XRP, Dogecoin Rally On Crypto Bill Progress: Analyst Says 'Dips Are For Buying' As $100,000 Comes In Focus For BTC

Dogecoin <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="DOGE" data-exchange="CRYPTO" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DOGE-USD" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>)</a> and Shiba Inu <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="SHIB" data-exchange="CRYPTO" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SHIB-USD" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/shib/usd">SHIB</a>)</a> rallied 5% on Tuesday after the Senate Banking Committee released a draft bill that would give DOGE the same regulatory treatment as Bitcoin <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="BTC" data-exchange="CRYPTO" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BTC-USD" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>)</a>—classifying it as a commodity rather than a security.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Senate Bill Gives DOGE Same Status As Bitcoin</h3>



The draft bill&#8217;s key provision is simple: because a Dogecoin ETF was already trading on a major exchange before January 1, DOGE automatically <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/26/01/49886882/senates-draft-bill-gives-xrp-sol-doge-bitcoin-like-status-heres-why-it-matters">qualifies</a> for &#8220;non-ancillary asset&#8221; status. 



This means DOGE escapes SEC securities rules and registration requirements that other crypto projects face.



Exchanges like Coinbase can now list DOGE without securities law risk.&nbsp;



Asset managers who shelved Dogecoin ETF applications have legal clarity to resubmit.



The Senate Banking Committee votes Thursday. If it passes, the regulatory barrier blocking more Dogecoin ETF products disappears entirely.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">DOGE Tests Key Resistance Ahead</h3>

DOGE bounced above the 20-day moving average at $0.13828 for the first time in months.



The meme coin crashed 55% from September&#8217;s $0.27 peak to December&#8217;s $0.1215 low, and today&#8217;s move suggests the bleeding might be stopping.



Dogecoin price remains trapped below the 50-day EMA at $0.14288, 100-day EMA at $0.15911, and the 200-day EMA at $0.17894. All three levels need to be reclaimed before a real recovery can begin.



What&#8217;s interesting: Blockchain data shows continued accumulation despite the brutal selloff, suggesting some investors are building positions at these depressed levels.&nbsp;



DOGE is testing mid-channel resistance around $0.143-$0.145. Breaking above this could trigger short covering toward $0.16.



However, support sits at $0.138. Losing that level targets $0.126, then $0.115-$0.12. Breaking $0.10 would signal complete capitulation.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">SHIB Rallies After 62% Collapse From August High</h3>

SHIB just formed what traders call a double-bottom—hitting the same low twice without breaking through.&nbsp;



If this pattern holds, it could trigger aggressive short covering given how negative sentiment became during the selloff.



However, the Supertrend remains bearish at $0.00000754, and price trades below all meaningful resistance levels.



Clearing $0.000014 would signal the worst is over and real recovery could push toward $0.000016-$0.000018.



Support holds at $0.00000822. Losing $0.0000075 retests the December low at $0.00000676.&nbsp;

Dogecoin Gets Bitcoin Status In Senate Bill—DOGE, SHIB Rally 5%

Cryptocurrencies underperformed during an otherwise risk-on week, with Bitcoin <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BTC-USD" target="_blank" class="ticker-link" data-ticker="BTC" data-exchange="CRYPTO" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>)</a> and Ethereum <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ETH-USD" target="_blank" class="ticker-link" data-ticker="ETH" data-exchange="CRYPTO" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>)</a> stuck in tight consolidation ranges even as select altcoins showed relative strength.



What Happened: According to Wintermute's January 2026 market <a href="https://x.com/wintermute_t/status/2010967792242319594">update</a>, the divergence came despite a broad rally across traditional assets. The Russell 2000 jumped 4.6%, while equities, gold and U.S. Treasurys all gained amid a softer dollar. Bitcoin slipped 0.6% on the week and Ethereum fell 0.7%, making crypto one of the few asset classes to finish lower.



The weakness appeared driven by crypto-specific flows rather than macro conditions. Bitcoin briefly rallied from the high-$80,000s to nearly $94,700 before sellers pushed it back below $90,000, with prices stabilizing near $91,000 by week's end. Ethereum followed a similar pattern, topping near $3,220 before sliding toward $3,080.



Repeated rejection in the $94,000–$95,000 zone and firm support around $89,000–$90,000 have compressed price action sharply, a setup that has historically resolved to the upside once volatility returns.



Altcoins showed selective strength. XRP <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/XRP-USD" target="_blank" class="ticker-link" data-ticker="XRP" data-exchange="CRYPTO" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/xrp/usd">XRP</a>)</a>, Solana <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SOL-USD" target="_blank" class="ticker-link" data-ticker="SOL" data-exchange="CRYPTO" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>)</a> and Dogecoin <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DOGE-USD" target="_blank" class="ticker-link" data-ticker="DOGE" data-exchange="CRYPTO" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>)</a> benefited from roughly $100 million in combined ETF inflows. XRP posted double-digit gains, while Solana advanced by mid-single digits.



Why It Matters: ETF flows were a major driver of price action. After strong early inflows totaling about $1.2 billion, sentiment reversed sharply, with more than $1.1 billion in outflows over the week and roughly $260 million exiting Ethereum products.



Even so, market behaviour did not signal panic. Trading volumes remained healthy, and selling pressure appeared closer to short-term profit-taking than structural distribution.

XRP, Solana, Mid-Caps Show Relative Strength: Is A Rally Loading?

Ahead of the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/25/09/47480159/12-stocks-for-2025-nfl-season-with-30-billion-expected-to-be-bet-8-million-super-bowl-lx-ads"> 2025 NFL season</a>, analysts estimated that bettors would wager more than $30 billion on the league. That figure put sports betting stocks in the spotlight, but now they're in the spotlight for a negative reason. Prediction markets have increased their sports options and are hitting record volume thanks to the NFL.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prediction Markets Hit Records</h2>



The first six games of the NFL Playoffs took place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/prediction-markets"> Prediction markets</a> could emerge as the big winners.



According to data from prediction markets and sports betting reporter Dustin Gouker, Kalshi set records for volume on both Saturday and Sunday.



Betting volume on <a href="https://x.com/DustinGouker/status/2010367796715081920">Saturday</a> hit $455 million; <a href="https://x.com/DustinGouker/status/2010726116995236008">Sunday</a> surpassed with $466 million. The totals include volume from partners like Robinhood Markets <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="HOOD" data-exchange="NASDAQ" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/HOOD" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/HOOD">HOOD</a>)</a>, which use Kalshi.



Sports made up 94% of betting volume on Sunday and over 90% on Saturday.



The top markets on Sunday and their percentage of volume were:

There were two NFL Playoff games on Saturday and three on Sunday. Other sports saw much lower betting volume on the platform, with NCAA Men's Basketball at 5.5% and NHL at 1.2% on Sunday.



The strong momentum for Kalshi to start the NFL Playoffs stems from prediction markets ending 2025 with high volume.



A <a href="https://defirate.com/news/volume-report-kalshi-polymarket-post-record-volume-driven-by-sports/">report </a>from DeFi Rate showed Kalshi hitting $2 billion in weekly volume and Polymarket hitting $1.5 billion in weekly volume.



Kalshi could have a greater impact on sports betting markets, with sports accounting for approximately 90% of weekly volume. On Polymarket, sports accounted for approximately 40% of volume during the week of Jan. 5 through Jan. 11, with crypto and politics also ranking high.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sports Betting Stocks In Trouble?</h2>



Kalshi&#8217;s and Polymarket&#8217;s growth could hurt sports betting companies like DraftKings Inc <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="DKNG" data-exchange="NASDAQ" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DKNG" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DKNG">DKNG</a>)</a> and Flutter Entertainment <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="FLUT" data-exchange="NYSE" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/FLUT" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/FLUT">FLUT</a>)</a>.



Both companies are also developing their own prediction markets to support future growth.



Prediction markets operate under different sets of rules. As a result, residents in certain states that prohibit online sports betting can access Kalshi. While lawsuits have popped up and the rules for prediction markets could be different in coming years, right now they pose a major risk.



Markets offered on non-sports items like politics, cryptocurrency and entertainment are also more prevalent on Polymarket and Kalshi, giving users more reasons to use the prediction markets.



DraftKings and Flutter may have waited too long to launch prediction markets, and their future earnings reports will show what kind of room they are making in the sector.



The key question remains whether prediction markets are diverting customers from sports betting operators or increasing overall betting volume and attracting new consumers, including crypto-native consumers, to the betting market. 



DraftKings and Flutter are expected to report quarterly results in late February or early March, reports that will be closely watched by investors and analysts.



DraftKings has beaten earnings per share estimates from analysts in two straight quarters and in four of the last five quarters overall. The company has missed revenue estimates in four of the last five quarters overall.



For Flutter, it's much of the same, with earnings per share beating analyst estimates in three of the last four quarters, while revenue has missed estimates in three of the last four quarters.



DraftKings stock is down 14.5% over the last 52 weeks, while Flutter shares have fallen 21% over the same time period. The companies could remain a major storyline to watch with the Super Bowl on Feb. 8 and March Madness later in mid-March.



Those events are key for sports betting companies, and increased competition from prediction markets could weigh on results and/or lead to greater marketing efforts that could harm profitability.

The response echoed the behavior of growth stocks reacting to shifting expectations around when (or if) the Federal Reserve might begin easing later this year. January, most strategists agree, is still off the table.

That matters because Bitcoin is no longer trading on the fringes of the financial system. The proposal is far from law and faces procedural hurdles, but it reinforced the sense that crypto regulation is gradually moving toward clearer guardrails.

Bitcoin-linked stocks and funds reflected the broader mood. Trader Notes: Altcoin Sherpa <a href="https://x.com/AltcoinSherpa/status/2011152689909104887">remains</a> cautious in the near term, saying Bitcoin is unlikely to break above $94,000 immediately and may see a pullback first. 



He is hesitant to open new positions at current levels but remains confident BTC will eventually move higher, viewing the broader outlook as bullish with uncertainty centered on timing and market structure.



Daan Crypto Trades <a href="https://x.com/DaanCrypto/status/2011115040846328217">remains</a> range-bound, consolidating while repeatedly testing the upper end of its range. 



The 4-hour 200-day moving average and exponential moving average are holding as key support, keeping the overall structure intact. 



He added that the yearly open remains untested and could come into play if those levels give way. 



Key levels to watch are $84,000 on the downside and $94,000 on the upside.



Ted Pillows <a href="https://x.com/TedPillows/status/2011149112465596653">highlighted</a> that heavy sell-side liquidity is concentrated between $94,000 and $95,000, with roughly $127.4 million in Bitcoin orders stacked in that zone. 



A decisive break and sustained hold above this area would signal that bulls are gaining control and could open the door to further upside.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How Tokens Get Bitcoin-Like Treatment</h3>



The draft <a href="https://decrypt.co/354411/crypto-bill-draft-grants-xrp-solana-and-dogecoin-same-legal-status-as-bitcoin">specifies</a> that tokens qualify as &#8220;non-ancillary assets&#8221; if served as the principal asset of an ETF listed on a national securities exchange as of January 1.



That means it escapes SEC securities rules and doesn&#8217;t need to file the same disclosures other crypto projects do.



This matters because every altcoin ETF that launched before New Year&#8217;s Day just gave those tokens a regulatory hall pass.&nbsp;

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What &#8220;Non-Ancillary&#8221; Actually Means</h3>



Bitcoin has always been treated as a commodity like gold, regulated by the CFTC.



Most altcoins have lived in regulatory limbo, with the SEC suggesting they might be securities requiring registration.



The bill creates a formal definition of &#8220;network tokens&#8221;—digital assets tied to blockchain networks that don&#8217;t give holders ownership rights, profit shares, or voting control over a company.&nbsp;



If a token fits that definition and powers a sufficiently decentralized network, it&#8217;s a commodity.



The SEC would set standards for measuring decentralization. Once a network passes that test, secondary market trading no longer triggers securities laws, even if the original token sale looked like an investment contract.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why ETF Sponsors Have Been Waiting For This</h3>



Asset managers have filed applications for XRP ETFs, Solana ETFs, and other altcoin products but couldn&#8217;t get approval because regulators wouldn&#8217;t confirm whether those tokens are commodities or securities.&nbsp;



This bill solves that problem by making ETF eligibility itself the proof that a token deserves commodity treatment.&nbsp;



The bill also protects exchanges and market makers from inheriting regulatory risk just because they handle tokens. 



Buying XRP on Coinbase wouldn&#8217;t be treated as a securities transaction, even if Ripple&#8217;s original XRP sales decades ago were.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bill Protects DeFi Developers, Bans Stablecoin Yield</h3>



The draft includes two ethics provisions: felony conviction rules and insider trading language.&nbsp;



Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett noted these are the only ethics provisions Banking Committee can include—other ethics rules fall under different committees.



Section 601 protects software developers who build DeFi protocols. 



This came after DeFi companies and traditional banks reached a compromise this week following heated negotiations as Banks were worried crypto protocols could be used as loopholes to avoid financial regulations.



The bill also bans crypto companies from paying interest on stablecoins. 



This is a major win for traditional banks, who didn&#8217;t want stablecoin issuers like Tether or Circle competing by offering yield on dollar deposits.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Thursday Vote Could Open Altcoin ETF Floodgates</h3>



The Senate Banking Committee <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/26/01/49881349/sec-chair-paul-atkins-optimistic-on-crypto-market-structure-bill-in-2026">marks</a> up the bill Thursday, meaning senators can propose changes before voting.&nbsp;



If it passes as written, the regulatory barrier blocking altcoin ETFs disappears.



That doesn&#8217;t guarantee instant approvals, but asset managers who shelved applications for Solana ETFs or XRP ETFs would have a clear legal path to resubmit.



Jordan Jefferson, Founder of DogeOS, said the immediate impact would be less about prices and more about compliance, as a clearer statutory path widens the set of institutions allowed to engage with these tokens.

Prominent crypto analyst Miles Deutscher outlined several themes he expects to shape digital asset markets in 2026, along with his outlook for Bitcoin's <a class="ticker-link" data-ticker="BTC" data-exchange="CRYPTO" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BTC-USD" target="_blank" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>)</a> price by year-end.  



What Happened: Deutscher <a href="https://x.com/milesdeutscher/status/2010749591462051987">said</a> prediction markets are poised for significant growth, with monthly volumes potentially reaching five times current levels, or about $95 billion, during at least one month in 2026. 



He attributed the expected surge to new product formats, including leveraged prediction markets.



He also identified crypto-native and stablecoin-focused neobanks as a potential breakout sector. 



According to Deutscher, improving infrastructure and rising demand, particularly in developing markets, are pushing these platforms toward an inflection point. 



Given their large addressable market, he said neobanks could become one of crypto's fastest-growing verticals.



Deutscher expects stablecoin supply to expand by 50% or more after growing from roughly $200 billion to $300 billion last year. 



He said clearer U.S. regulation, including the passage of the GENIUS Act, could further accelerate adoption.



Institutional participation is another dominant theme, with market moves increasingly driven by ETFs, regulated investment products and real-yield protocols. 



Deutscher sees shift favoring projects generating real revenue and catering to institutional demand.



On Bitcoin, he said a parabolic "blow-off" move is not guaranteed, but his base case is for BTC to finish 2026 higher than it began. 



He expects Bitcoin to close the year above the $90,000 range, supported by late-cycle dynamics and historically familiar bottoming behaviour.



Why It Matters: Despite Bitcoin maintaining a long-term uptrend marked by higher highs and higher lows through 2024 and 2025, retail sentiment has deteriorated during recent pullbacks.



CryptoQuant data <a href="https://x.com/cryptoquant_com/status/2010661570569973810">shows</a> that data from the Short-Term Holder Spent Output Profit Ratio shows many retail investors have been selling at a loss for roughly the past 70 days, with the indicator hovering near 0.98, levels last seen during periods of extreme fear in late 2022.



The divergence suggests a familiar pattern in which short-term holders capitulate during corrections even as Bitcoin's broader price structure remains intact. 



Historically, such disconnects between retail fear and underlying trend strength have often preceded renewed upside rather than trend reversals.

Gold pushed to a fresh all-time high of $4,620 per ounce, after December CPI data showed headline inflation held at 2.7% while core inflation remained at 2.6%—the lowest since 2021.



The latest leg higher came after U.S. prosecutors <a href="https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/gold">launched</a> a criminal investigation into Fed Chair Powell&#8217;s testimony last June.&nbsp;



Powell described this as part of President Trump&#8217;s effort to pressure the Fed into lowering rates. Trump added fuel to the uncertainty Monday by announcing a 25% tariff on countries trading with Iran amid widespread protests.



This political turmoil is happening alongside massive institutional buying. Central banks have been accumulating gold at 70 tonnes per month—four times above pre-2022 averages.

ETH trades up 1.74% today, coiling at the apex of a symmetrical triangle that&#8217;s been compressing price since October&#8217;s $4,700 highs.&nbsp;



This tightening volatility typically precedes an explosive breakout, and all the technical indicators point to an imminent resolution.



The key battleground sits at $3,250-$3,300, where the triangle&#8217;s upper boundary, the 100-day moving average at $3,282, and technical resistance at $3,296 all converge.&nbsp;



Breaking this cluster opens the door to much higher prices quickly.

The bank expects Ethereum to outperform Bitcoin <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/BTC-USD" target="_blank" class="ticker-link" data-ticker="BTC" data-exchange="CRYPTO" rel="noopener">(CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>)</a> due to its dominance in stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, and decentralized finance.



Tom Lee of Fundstrat <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/11/49065658/tom-lee-sticks-to-7000-ethereum-price-target-but-only-after-a-dip-to-2500">echoes</a> this view, projecting $7,000-$9,000 by early 2026 as Wall Street accelerates blockchain adoption for settlement infrastructure.



U.S. Ethereum ETFs <a href="https://sosovalue.com/assets/etf/us-eth-spot">collected</a> $12.44 billion in cumulative inflows throughout 2025 and now hold $18.88 billion in total net assets representing 5.04% of Ethereum&#8217;s market cap.



Additionally, spot ETFs saw $5.04 million in inflows on January 12, ending a three-day outflow streak.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Which Asset Hits $5,000 First</h3>



Gold&#8217;s path to $5,000 looks straightforward but slow. Breaking $4,700 opens $4,800-$4,900, then the milestone. Support sits at $4,426.&nbsp;



The move could take until mid-2026 based on current momentum.



Ethereum&#8217;s path is riskier but potentially much faster. Breaking $3,300 opens $3,500-$3,600, then $4,000. Support holds at $3,088, with critical support at $3,000.&nbsp;



If the triangle resolves upward, ETH could hit $5,000 in 4-8 weeks.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins on Monday said the coming week could be pivotal for crypto regulation as Congress advances long-awaited legislation to clarify U.S. crypto market structure.



What Happened: In a Fox Business interview, Atkins <a href="https://x.com/SECPaulSAtkins/status/2010850477529821664">said</a> lawmakers are moving closer to passing bipartisan market structure legislation aimed at defining regulatory authority between the SEC and the CFTC. 



The bill would reduce regulatory uncertainty, protect investors, and provide clearer rules for the crypto industry.



Atkins framed the legislation as critical to preventing regulatory overreach, supporting innovation, and advancing President Donald Trump's goal of positioning the U.S. as the global hub for crypto and digital assets.



Atkins expects Trump to sign the bill this year and noted he is prepared to work closely with the CFTC and other agencies to implement the new framework.



He also pointed to the recently passed GENIUS Act, which formally recognized crypto assets and provided clarity around stablecoins, as an important step toward broader regulatory certainty.



Why It Matters: In a comment shared with Benzinga, Coin Bureau co-founder Nic Puckrin said the Senate's compromise on stablecoin yield signals lawmakers want to keep stablecoins attractive to users while easing pressure from banks, underscoring their growing systemic importance as the U.S. dollar weakens.



With the dollar down nearly 10% year over year and expected to face further pressure, stablecoins are increasingly viewed as a strategic tool to reinforce dollar dominance amid macroeconomic and geopolitical stress, according to Puckrin. 



He added that stablecoins will continue to compete with bank deposits, forcing banks to adapt rather than block innovation, ultimately benefiting consumers through better incentives.



However, Puckrin cautioned that last-minute amendments and a tight legislative calendar make it unlikely the bill passes this month. Further delays, he warned, could continue to weigh on an already sluggish crypto market.
