Traders on the CFTC-regulated platform Kalshi see an 80% chance Trump will sign at least 15 executive orders on his first day, with the most aggressive wagers banking on 50 or more — offering a 28% implied probability.



From a potential flood of executive orders to new tariffs, immigration crackdowns, and even Bitcoin policy shifts, the first days of the Trump administration could be some of the most consequential in recent history.

The Kalshi platform, which allows traders to bet on political and economic outcomes, indicates Trump will sign an average of 38 executive orders on Inauguration Day.

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Will Trump Lower Corporate And High-Earner Taxes?</h1>



Betting markets assign a 55% probability that Trump will cut corporate taxes this year, signaling a potential reversal of Biden-era policies. 



Meanwhile, there&#8217;s an 89% chance that he will extend tax cuts for high earners, a key priority for his administration. Trump&#8217;s 2017 tax reform significantly reduced corporate tax rates from 35% to 21%. 



<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Immigration Crackdown: A Near Certainty</h1>



One of the most heavily priced-in actions is Trump&#8217;s potential move on illegal immigration. 



Betting markets assign a 94% probability that he will take action on deportations within his first 100 days. 



This aligns with his campaign rhetoric, where he vowed to reinstate and expand the &#8220;Remain in Mexico&#8221; policy, increase deportations, and impose tougher border controls.

Markets are also weighing in on which countries Trump may hit with tariffs in his first 48 hours.

Heading into the week, markets were gripped by concerns over inflation and interest rates, pricing in just one rate cut by year-end while the 30-year Treasury <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/01/42990155/5-yields-fuel-demand-treasury-etfs-despite-bond-market-pain-relief-rally">yield hovered around 5%.</a>



Fresh data showed inflation rising for the third straight month up to 2.9%, yet right in line with forecasts. Crypto trader Stoic observed that Bitcoin has reclaimed a key level from the Dec. 18 sell-off, now 5% above the HTF range value.

SOL Has A 50% Of Flipping Ethereum, Bonk To Become The Shiba Inu Of Solana, Trader Posits

Cryptocurrencies have once again caught the bullish bug following a bout of sideways consolidation, naturally extending a helping hand <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/blockchain">to blockchain miners</a>. 



Among them, TeraWulf Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WULF#NASDAQ">WULF</a>) currently ranks among the top performers Friday. Based on similar circumstances of responding to prior extreme volatility, TeraWulf may see a slow but steady rise over the next few weeks, allowing traders to blueprint their options strategies.



Fundamentally, TeraWulf stands on relatively solid ground. As Needham analyst John Todaro pointed out last September, the company is one of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/09/40715911/bitcoin-miner-terawulf-leads-early-hpc-market-entry-analyst-projects-610m-revenue-by-2026">top miners for converting data center capacity</a> to High-Performance Computing (HPC). Therefore, risk-tolerant investors have reasonable confidence that TeraWulf shares may rise from here. However, the underlying nuances may play an important role in the actual strategy.

However, as mentioned earlier, the statistical tendency following an extreme-fear event is for the biggest percentage lift to occur in the first week. From the second week to the end of the fourth, TeraWulf is only projected to rise about 9.85%. That doesn't really move the needle much with an open-market transaction.



On the other hand, a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/bull-spread">bull call spread</a> uses the power of leverage to potentially deliver robust returns in a short time period. This options strategy involves buying a call option and simultaneously selling a call at a higher strike price for the same expiration date. The idea is for the stock to reach the short strike price. Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart has reflected on the remarkable success of spot Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) ETFs and the potential problems in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/42973211/solana-xrp-etfs-could-outperform-ethereum-etfs-says-jpmorgan">altcoin ETF approvals in 2025</a>.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Introduction</h2>



Building an income-focused portfolio can be tricky. Sometimes we have to sacrifice immense upside price potential for our desired income — especially when it comes to those high-octane growth stocks.



Lucky for us, over the last few years industry incumbents have introduced covered call option strategy ETFs for nearly every high-flying index out there — Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000, etc.



However, it wasn't until recently that an income-focused alternative to these high-flying spot Bitcoin ETFs came about. As an income-focused investor, the <a href="https://neosfunds.com/btci/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF (BTCI)</a> is my favorite way to own Bitcoin.



By offering its investors a 28% annual distribution yield, this ETF is the best way to own Bitcoin in your portfolio if you care about both monthly income and potential price appreciation in rising markets.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BTCI&#8217;s Investment Strategy</h2>



The NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BTCI#BATS">BTCI</a>) seeks to distribute monthly income generated from writing call options on Bitcoin via Bitcoin index options — which seems to be the first ETF to do so. Given Bitcoin's historically high volatility, the management team is able to write out-of-the-money call options that don't cover the entire value of the portfolio. This means BTCI's price has the opportunity to move up and down with the price of Bitcoin.



For example, as of 1/13/25 the fund left 22% of its notional value "uncapped." In this scenario, that means 22% of the fund's value can move freely alongside the price of Bitcoin — unburdened by the "cap" of the premium income generated by writing call options.



This specific strategy is important for two reasons:



<ol>
<li>The Achilles heel of these covered call ETFs that could cause them to underperform their benchmark index is writing covered call options against the entirety of the portfolio. When you do this, the ETF's performance is capped by the total amount of premium generated during the month. If you're writing a covered call option contract 3-5% out-of-the-money, once the price of the ETF appreciates beyond that strike price you're technically "losing money."</li>



<li>To address this problem, the NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF only writes against a portion of the notional value of the portfolio. We know Bitcoin is a very volatile asset — moving up by +39% during the month of November alone. The fund's management team wants to ensure investors can realize moves like that, while pursuing the primary objective of high monthly income.</li>
</ol>



But is this strategy actually working?



Let's analyze the fund's performance since inception and find out.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BTCI&#8217;s Performance Since Inception</h2>



The NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF began trading on October 18, 2024. The fund began trading at $50 / share, while the price of Bitcoin was ~$68,000.



As of 1/13/25, the price of Bitcoin has appreciated by +39.7% to ~$95,000 per coin. During the same period of time, BTCI's total return was +31.5% — capturing nearly ~80% of Bitcoin's total return while paying their investors monthly income.



Since inception, the fund has paid investors $4.00 in cash distributions. $1.13 per share in October, $1.41 per share in November, and $1.46 per share in December. Assuming you purchased shares of BTCI at $50 / share — that's an 8% yield paid to investors in only 3-months time.



As of its most recent $1.46 per share distribution in December, the fund is offering investors a 28% annual yield — while simultaneously giving investors the opportunity to realize Bitcoin's price appreciation. The price of BTCI has already appreciated by +20% since inception in October.



As an income-focused investor, this ETF is exceeding expectations. If you're someone who's a bit intimidated by Bitcoin volatility, having that monthly income certainly helps. For example, the total return of BTCI during the month of December was -2.4%, compared to the total return of the price of Bitcoin being -4.3% — a +1.9% difference.



If you can stomach Bitcoin's volatility, more power to you!

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where BTCI Might Fit Inside of Your Income-Focused Portfolio</h2>



Being an income-focused investor has its perks — the names we usually hold inside of our portfolios tend to have resilience during market downturns, we get paid tax-efficient cash on a monthly / quarterly basis, and dividend growth stocks tend to outperform benchmark indices over a long enough time horizon.



However, this investment strategy also has its drawbacks — including the lack of high-octane investment opportunities.



With that being said, I'd argue two things are true:



<ol>
<li>Being an income-focused investor doesn't have to be boring. There are plenty of tax-efficient covered call ETFs that closely track the total performance of the S&amp;P 500, Nasdaq-100, and Russell 2000 — specifically SPYI, QQQI, and IWMI — that offer double-digit annual distribution yields and upside price potential in rising markets.</li>



<li>Everyone should allocate 5-15% of their investment portfolio to Bitcoin, as this asset class over the last 15-years has proven to outperform the stock market over a long enough time horizon.</li>
</ol>



Now that the team over at NEOS has introduced a covered call Bitcoin ETF whose strategy both offers high monthly income and price appreciation in rising markets, there's no excuse to stay on the sidelines.



Personally, I've been a Bitcoin investor since 2017.



Now as I shift my focus away from high-octane opportunities and instead toward income-focused ideas — BTCI is how I will continue to have a ~10% allocation to the evolving asset class throughout my wealth building journey.



In my opinion, it's the best of both worlds.

What Happened: According to Coingecko data, the cryptocurrency briefly hit $104,279 and is trading at $103,791 at the time of writing, up 5.6% on the day.



Market analysts point to the incoming Donald Trump administration's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/43047039/trump-planning-to-declare-cryptocurrency-as-national-priority-increase-engagement-with-industry-report">potential embrace of crypto</a>, as well as high levels of buyer interest to explain the latest jump.

He sees the U.S, facing a pivotal moment as the market watches for progress not just on regulatory clarity but also on how the administration might view Bitcoin as a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/43056350/maga-memecoin-leads-trump-meme-rally-as-strategic-bitcoin-reserve-speculation-intensifies">strategic reserve asset</a>.



He further added that Europe is currently leading the charge in the space and that the US has much catching up to do, "The first 100 days of this administration will be critical in laying the groundwork for common-sense regulation that supports innovation and strengthens Bitcoin's role in the financial ecosystem."



In addition to external factors, market sentiment also plays a vital role in the current price movements. 



Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro said, "Crypto market sentiment remains in the ‘Greed' territory, with values recording 75 for the second consecutive day. 



These figures indicate significant buyer interest but are not yet indicative of an overbought market." 



Kuptsikevich further explained that, "Bitcoin's price has exceeded $102,000, entering the range it occupied ten days ago. Similar to the broader market, BTC is on the brink of reaching the December highs."



He also highlighted that there is a potential for future growth to the $108,000 to $110,000 range.



"If risk appetite in equities persists, an advance into the 108K−110K range could materialize within a few days. 



Continued upward movement might trigger FOMO, potentially driving the price to $130,000 by the end of January,&#8221; he said.
